TruTac ensures WTD compliance for Tooles Transport

Based near Droitwich, Tooles Transport have been in business for over 30 years. The company prides itself on combining experience with state of the art technology to provide a top-level service, covering everything from single pallet deliveries to full loads throughout the UK and Europe. Tooles’ have invested in technology at every stage to future proof their business. Front end online services are used to enhance staff roles, and vital back office tasks of managing tachograph analysis and Working Time Directive compliance are also bang up to date, thanks to TruTac’s web-based system.

“We’ve been using TruControl since 2013” says HR Manager Kirstie Stuart. “Before, we were using a local service but weren’t getting accurate working time information so I convinced the directors to go for online analysis.” The company looked at many providers before making their decision to choose TruTac after a visit from Lee Oliver – now Head of Sales. “He came across as being very genuine” Kirstie says. “He didn’t try and give us the hard sell, he just put everything in quite simple terms.”

According to Kirstie, the support TruTac gave during what was a ‘transformation of the tachograph analysis’ for their operation was extremely good. “If we had any questions we could always talk to the member of the team who was doing the analysis, and although we’ve shifted to digital tachos, the support is just as good.”

The other big win for Tooles was the simplicity of the TruControl system. “I thought the training phase would be a lot more complex, but in reality we didn’t need a lot” she explains. “It actually empowered us really, because now we have all the information in front of us, we understand it better, as do our drivers.”

TruControl has wider uses too and provided an unexpected but much welcomed bonus for Tooles Transport: “With the digital tachographs I can bring up the data within 10 minutes of downloading a driver’s card, so we can look at it together” says Kirstie, “and for Working Time Directive compliance it’s absolutely crucial, especially around Bank Holidays and other times when our workload ramps up. We use it to check for discrepancies for payroll too, and I no longer have to go through to the transport office when a PCN or Congestion Charge Infringement comes through – I can just look at TruTac to tell me who was in the vehicle.”

All in all, Tooles Transport are more than happy with the TruTac system – as Kirstie puts it: “We would miss it now if it wasn’t there!”
